Loyalist paramilitaries begin decommissioning

Sources in the North are claiming that loyalist paramilitaries have begun to decommission their weapons.

According to senior loyalist figures the UVF has carried out a significant act of decommissioning while the UDA has either made a start to the process or is set to do so imminently.

And it is understood that other loyalist groups were well-advanced in preparation to hand over their weapons. The move – four years after the IRA announced it was giving up its armoury – comes ahead of Secretary of State Shaun Woodward’s August deadline for significant progress on loyalist arms.

Loyalist paramilitaries dont need weapons when they are backed by the British army,RUC/PSNI and Irish and british governments, isnt it strange that when ever there is a problem by loyalist communities that it is never reported as loyalist paramilitaries, but in nationalist communities it is always dissident republicans at fault.

Loyalist death squads have more blood on their hands than any other organisation especially when they were under the control of Johnny Adair who was famous for havock and many atrocitys on innocent catholics.

Whilst this fan fair by the national & international media circus over the loyalist parmailitary announcement is all well and good, it's nothing to write home about!! The largest loyalist group, the UDA, is still in the act of discussion on disarming their weapons with the IICD. However, not during any of the loyalist paramilitary statements on their "momentus" decision was there an apology, acknowledge or ounce of remorse shown to the near 1,000 sectarian killings they perpetrated upon the Catholic people!! So I suppose don't mention the war in the name of political progress.....

Everything to do with the Northern Ireland situation is a fanfare. How many years is it since the GFA and what have we gained from it,nothing, a split and weakened Republican movement is all that's come out of it.

Republicans are not weakened i work for Republican Sinn fein (not to be confussed by Gerry Adams who stole the same name) we are recruiting a large number of Provisional Sinn fein members and locals all over Ireland on daily bases, as we go further into recession people are coming to us for answers, all i say is dont believe the news as they will tell you we are just one person when we are 1000 pluss, they always report a small figure as they dont actually know our strength, all i say is watch this space.

Daithi, the fact that you say RSF are recruiting PSF members is exactly my point. Then you have the various IRA's, the Provos weapons are gone, they split, and the RIRA had to start from scratch, then you have the CIRA too. There are just too many splits, and splits play into the hands of the British.
