DIPLOMATIC relations with Israel came under further strain last night, following a government decision to upgrade the Palestinian delegation in Dublin to the status of a mission.
The move is certain to put further pressure on diplomatic relations between Ireland and Israel -- already strained following the recent fake passport scandal.

Czech immigrant sentenced for fraud
A Clare resident who defrauded a company out of goods valued at nearly €5,000 while wearing a shirt saying “Trust Me” has been given a two year sentence with the balance suspended from today.
Ladislav Klier (39) of Dun na hInse, Ennis, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to stealing a diesel generator, a breaking machine and an extension lead with a total value of €4,800 from Active Tool Hire & Sales in Tallaght on June 1, 2008.

Polish murder accused remembers having knife
A Polish man on trial for murdering a young supermarket worker in 2009 has today told the Central Criminal Court that all he remembers of the incident is having knife in his hand and wanting confrontation.
Taking the witness stand on day six of his trial, Alexsander Nadowdny told the jury in his case that following a night out in Galway city with his friend, she showed him a knife in her bag and told him to “do something” about a boy that had been shouting at her.
